Describe diverse family structures and dynamics and integrate with knowledge of individual dynamics and intervention.

GOAL: You are to construct a three-generational family genogram that reflects both biological family relationships and emotional relationship dynamics among family members. You are to describe the noticeable family patterns that emerge from the genogram while applying the theories and concepts learned in class. Last, you are to discuss and reflect on the learning that occurred while doing this assignment and the potential impact of your own family experiences on your work with families. (Learning Outcomes 1, 2 and 3)This assignment can be based on your own family OR the following film.
Learning Outcomes1. Describe diverse family structures and dynamics and integrate with knowledge of individual dynamics and intervention.2. Identify implications of one’s own family of origin issues and the role these play for “use of self” in working with families.3. Demonstrate an appreciation for the family as a primary medium for nurturance and socialization, while illustrating respect for social and cultural diversity in families.
If using your own family, you do not need to include anything you do not feel comfortable sharing. Papers will be viewed by myself. Papers should be double-spaced, 1-inch margins, and pagination. Papers should be 10-12 pages excluding genogram and references and adhere to APA guidelines. Additionally, the paper should include citations from 3 separate sources, one of which can be the textbook. Do not reference the instructor’s power points or lectures. While this paper does not require a full literature review as would a research paper, you should be referencing the text and other sources to highlight family patterns you see (e.g., triangulation, intergenerational transmission, roles, etc.). Furthermore, if you are mentioning any family challenges (which you likely are) you should cite ideas and concepts tha are not your own. More specific details will be given regarding the content of the paper.
